welcome

Temple-Head is a newly-established charity which offers help and support for people who have suffered a head injury.

We aim to make sure that people with a head injury are directed to the best possible rehabilitation services and other care that they might need.

Research has shown that there is significant potential for recovery even in cases of severe head injury, and that the best chance of recuperation comes if suitable support and treatment are given during the vital first year after the injury.

Therefore one of Temple-Head’s key aims is to give immediate assistance to ensure that patients receive the best and most appropriate co-ordinated care as quickly as possible, to maximise their prospects of making a good recovery.

With funding and support from the Department of Health, we are currently operating a pilot scheme in the NHS East of England area, establishing head injury coordinators in the region's hospitals to fast-track patients to the many different services they may need. The DoH has judged that Temple-Head's project is of national significance. In time, we aim to extend our service to operate on a UK-wide basis.
